Final Project
This is the requirement for our final project.
This final assignment was a comprehensive application of the knowledge
learned throughout the course. Throughout the project, we focused on using
360-degree photography as one of our core expressive techniques. To ensure
image quality and an immersive effect, we borrowed more professional and
advanced shooting equipment (Insta360 Pro 2) from the school.
Before the actual shooting, we systematically learned how to use the
360-degree camera, including its structure, shooting parameter settings,
and spatial composition. Through continuous practice and adjustments, we
gradually mastered how to shoot effectively in complex environments and
fully leverage the advantages of 360-degree imaging in immersive
experiences.
This process not only improved our ability to operate the equipment but
also deepened our understanding of immersive imaging technology in
storytelling and spatial expression, laying a solid foundation for the
final work.
Process:
This project lasted for approximately five weeks and was completed
collaboratively by a group of three. At the beginning of the project, we
brainstormed and developed three different story concepts. These initial
scripts were then presented to our instructor for feedback and selection.
After reviewing our ideas, the instructor pointed out that the original
narratives were somewhat flat and lacked dramatic tension, making the story
less engaging. Based on this feedback, we decided to further refine and
enhance the content, aiming to create a storyline that was more innovative,
emotionally engaging, and conceptually rich.
Eventually, we selected robots as the central theme of our project. To move
beyond traditional portrayals of robots in science fiction, we explored the
idea of giving a robot a special, human-like occasion. We concluded that a
birthday would be the most meaningful choice, as it symbolizes identity,
existence, and self-awareness. This concept became the core narrative of our
final script.
Once the theme and storyline were finalized, we began developing the project
in a more structured manner. This included:
Writing the full script,Designing the storyboard,Planning scenes and
spatial environments,Defining key narrative moments and emotional
progression,Designing camera placement and movement
Through this process, we transformed an abstract idea into a clear and
visually driven narrative, establishing a strong foundation for the
production and final execution of the project.
This is the script we produced:
After our instructor approved and affirmed the revised storyline, we
applied to borrow a professional camera for the shoot. We selected a
specific day to collect the equipment needed for filming and carried out
the production at a friend’s house, which served as our main shooting
location.
Prior to filming, we spent a significant amount of time preparing props
and set elements. We gathered various filming materials and handcrafted a
robot helmet using cardboard to enhance the visual identity of the
character. In addition, we used colorful ribbons and balloons to support
the birthday theme and create the desired atmosphere for each scene.
Once all materials were prepared, we began filming according to the
finalized script. For each shot, we carefully analyzed the scene and
selected the most appropriate camera angles and framing. Multiple takes
were recorded to ensure the best possible result. For different scenes, we
explored various shooting positions and experimented with diverse camera
angles to enrich the visual storytelling.
After completing the main filming, we reviewed the footage and conducted
additional pickup shots to refine details and improve continuity. Once
filming was complete, we watched all the recorded clips to ensure that no
important elements were obstructed, the framing was clean, and each shot
was complete and usable.
Finally, the footage was exported and organized, marking the completion of
our filming process.
After the filming was completed, we dedicated a full day to the video editing process. All recorded footage was imported into Adobe Premiere Pro (Pr) for organization and editing.
At the initial stage, we arranged all clips in the correct chronological order according to the script and storyboard to ensure narrative clarity and continuity.
Next, we edited the footage scene by scene, trimming unnecessary sections and smoothly connecting the clips. We repeatedly reviewed the entire video to identify any awkward transitions, pacing issues, or uncomfortable viewing moments, making adjustments until the overall flow felt natural and cohesive.
Once the visual editing was finalized, we began working on the audio. We searched for and selected various background music tracks and sound effects, placing them carefully throughout the video to enhance emotional impact and atmosphere. In addition, we added subtle visual effects and transitions to create smoother scene changes and improve overall continuity.
Finally, after confirming that the visuals, audio, and pacing met our expectations, we exported the final video and uploaded it to YouTube, completing the post-production stage of the project.

Reflection:
Through this five-week group project, I gained a deeper and more practical understanding of the complete process of video production, from initial concept development to filming and post-production. Each stage required careful planning, continuous communication, and repeated revisions.
During the early creative phase, I realized that what makes a story engaging is not the theme itself, but the emotional depth and clarity of its message. The instructor’s feedback that our original storyline felt flat encouraged us to reconsider the narrative from the audience’s perspective. This pushed us to move beyond our initial ideas and develop a more meaningful and symbolic concept, which eventually led to the theme of a robot’s birthday.
Throughout the filming process, I experienced the importance of teamwork and collaboration. From prop preparation and scene setup to shot analysis and multiple retakes, every step relied on clear coordination among team members. Filming also taught me that many visual issues only become apparent when reviewing footage, highlighting the need for patience and attention to detail.
During post-production, I further understood the role of editing in storytelling. Editing is not simply about assembling clips, but about shaping the narrative through pacing, sound design, transitions, and visual details. This stage helped me focus more on the audience’s viewing experience rather than just completing the task.
Overall, this project strengthened both my technical skills and my abilities in story development, collaboration, and critical reflection. The experience has provided valuable insights that will inform my future creative and academic work.
