Preliminary Proposal
First, we gathered a large number of reference videos from YouTube to help us determine the overall visual direction. Since we aimed to create a story with a looping structure and an eerie, unsettling atmosphere, these references provided valuable inspiration for our concept development.
Second, based on this idea, we began writing the script. We started by outlining the main storyline, then gradually expanded it into detailed scenes. During our class discussion, the instructor acknowledged the potential of our concept and agreed that the idea was strong. However, due to the short duration required for the final video, he pointed out that fully conveying the narrative might be challenging. Therefore, he suggested that we develop an alternative plan as a backup in case adjustments are needed later.
Filming Process
Hu YaoPing and I decided to base our project on a “looping murder” storyline. In the video, I play the student trapped in the time loop, while YaoPing plays the killer. We chose the school classroom and stairwell as our filming locations.
Before starting, we prepared and arranged the shooting environment. I brought a tripod and adjusted the equipment to ensure stable footage. We filmed multiple takes for each scene and selected the best shots afterward. All the final clips were then imported into Premiere Pro (Pr) for editing and post-production.
Editing Process
We selected the best shots from all the footage and imported them into Premiere Pro (Pr) for editing. First, we adjusted the clips to fit the VR video format, then organized and refined each scene by editing the sequence, timing, and visuals. After that, we added transitions, visual effects, and adjusted the audio to enhance the suspenseful and tense atmosphere. These steps helped us make the final piece more immersive and impactful both visually and aurally.
Audio Processing
We sourced the required audio clips from Pixabay and YouTube and imported them into our video. Then, we adjusted the timing of each audio segment to synchronize with the visuals. Adding these sound effects not only enhanced the overall impact but also better emphasized the suspenseful atmosphere and visual effects of the video.
Final Review
We submitted the final video to our instructor for review. He commented that the filming was very well executed and effectively conveyed the concept of the loop, and that the story was easy to understand.
